Philosophy
We share the philosophy that we will encourage natural, physiological childbirth, and we believe in woman's ability to give birth safely and naturally. Above all we seek to provide excellence in midwifery care for women and their families during their childbearing experience. This will be encouraged by working in partnership with women and her family, where our role is to provide education, information, resources that will help in making informed decisions and choices about what is wanted. We work together to facilitate a supportive and nurturing environment for ourselves as midwives which includes supporting women when one of us needs time off.

"I qualified as a nurse in 1992 specialising in working with sick children at Waikato Hospital. I then trained as a midwife in 1998. I believe that for well women, pregnancy and birth is a normal life event and my commitment is to provide care that is planned with women to meet their individual needs. I love being a midwife and care for women at home or hospital during this special time."

"I have worked in the community as a midwife for 10 years and as a nurse for 8 years before this. I believe that for healthy women, birth is a special, unique and normal event in a woman's life. My job as a midwife is to offer wholistic care, unconditional support and guidance. To enable a woman to relax and make informed and important decisions about her pregnancy, birthing and parenting. I offer this care for women who birth at home or Taupo Maternity and feel honoured to be involved in this special and personal time."

"My goal as a midwife is to work in partnership with women during their pregnancy, birth and postnatal times. I feel privileged to be involved with families during this time and see pregnancy, birth and motherhood as a natural and special event. When necessary, I seek extra advice. We are registered midwives who provide comprehensive, wholistic, family centered care for families in the Lake Taupo area. We offer care and support for women who choose to birth at home or at hospital, and are experienced in guiding women to relax or birth in the water."
We all belong to the NZCollege of Midwives and adhere to their professional Midwifery Standards of Practice of having their practice reviewed annually.
