Philosophy

The KYM Know Your Midwife service operates out of the North Shore Hospital in Takapuna, Auckland. We have 12 Lead Maternity Carer (LMC) midwives in the group. Our midwives work in pairs to ensure they get regular time off so that you get a fit healthy midwife looking after you at this important time in your life.

I registered as a midwife and completed an advanced diploma nursing and midwifery (ADN) in 1987, then later completed a degree BA SocSci in 2000. I have worked at the North Shore Hospital since 1985 and have been in various roles during my time at the hospital. I have been involved in the KYM team since its inception in 1994, and am now the manager of the team and continue to take a very small case load each year. I am married with a son, a daughter and six granddaughters. I practice at the North Shore Hospital but will do home visits antenatally if necessary.

Services

• We aim for continuity of care through pregnancy, birth and the first weeks at home.
• Ideally women meet their midwife’s professional partner during their pregnancy in case they are required at some stage.
