OUR ORGANISATION

skylight is a national organisation working to support children, young people and their families who have been affected by change, loss and grief. Our work helps them to find ways to live with life's losses, to build on their natural resilience, and to move forward.

WHAT WE DO

skylight's work also involves using its specialist role to support, resource and train professionals working with children and young people impacted by loss and grief - such as teachers, social workers, foster parents, health professionals, counsellors, church and community workers, youth workers, etc.

OUR RESOURCES

skylight provides:

• A National Resource And Information Service on issues of loss and grief - we provide resources (books, information sheets, videos, etc.) for loan or purchase (call for a catalogue or check out our website). We also tailor make packs for different family needs.
• A Counselling/Support service for children, young people and their families - we provide support groups, individual and family group counselling, as well as telephone support.
• Education and Training for those who work with and care for grieving children and young people, and their families - we provide courses NZ-wide, both general and also tailored to the needs of different groups or agencies.
• Advocacy to enhance the understanding of, and services for, grieving families.
