Insect stings
Insect allergy can cause anaphylaxis (severe allergic reaction) in susceptible individuals, so having a course of action to follow is very important. Anaphylaxis is a life-threatening condition and affected individuals and their families should be able to recognise the signs of anaphylaxis and know what to do in an emergency.
Plan includes insect allergy
Instructions about managing anaphylaxis due to insect allergy have now been incorporated into the Anaphylaxis action plan for adults and children (rather than being a separate action plan). The plan should be filled out by your doctor with your personal details.
The Action Plan is reproduced with permission of the Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA). ASCIA updated the action plans in 2011. Reviewed by everybody, January 2012.
