I am Wendy Lee, and I am very proud to be a member of the Kate Sheppard Midwifery practice.

I am happily married with three children, whom I love to spend time with when I am not working. I trained in the UK and have been fortunate to experience midwifery in a variety of settings, including a brief stint in the Shetland Islands. Being an LMC is very rewarding and a real privilege to play such an important role in a woman’s life.

Philosophy

My philosophy is to:

• Promote women’s health.
• Provide individual care to mothers and their families.
• Provide holistic care respecting women and families, dignity, values, beliefs and autonomy.
• Plan midwifery care in partnership with the woman and her family ensuring the woman is the focus of care.
• Communicate effectively with the woman, her family and other healthcare professionals.
• Empower the woman and ensure she is well informed and supported to make choices of her own.
• Deliver care based on current evidence, best practice and validated research.
• Provide a safe environment.
• Acknowledge the expertise of other health professionals.
