WHAT IS THE BETHANY CENTRE

The Salvation Army owns and runs the Bethany Centre. It is a caring and supportive service for single, pregnant women, mothers and babies.

HOW  WE HELP

The Centre helps young women through their pregnancy. While preparing for the birth of their babies, they can live at the Centre in Auckland, in a safe, comfortable and fully confidential environment. Or women can live elsewhere and prepare for motherhood by attending day sessions run by the Centre's staff.

Full ante natal and post natal care is offered at the Centre.

THE DAILY PROGRAMME

At the daily Bethany programme, women learn how to cope with labour and how to care for their baby afterwards. They also learn how to meet their own wide ranging needs, through the life skills programme.

Where needed, Bethany helps young women through the decision making process about the future of their baby.

Babies are born at National Women's Hospital with a Bethany midwife and specialist. Afterwards women return to Bethany with their babies.

PAYMENT

Board is usually covered by a Social Welfare benefit, organised by Bethany staff. This includes a weekly personal allowance.
