Diabetes New Zealand
WHO WE ARE
Diabetes New Zealand is a nationwide, non-governmental, non-profit membership organisation. The aim of the organisation is to support 14,000 members, 39 diabetes societies throughout New Zealand, and health professionals involved with diabetes.
Diabetes New Zealand:
- Acts as the national advocate for people affected by diabetes
- Encourages local support for people with diabetes
- Raises the level of awareness of diabetes
- Educates and informs about diabetes, its treatment and prevention
- Empowers people with diabetes to choose healthy lifestyles
- Supports research into treatment, prevention and cure of diabetes.
Members can choose to either join Diabetes New Zealand direct or belong to their local diabetes society. Members who belong to a local society automatically get membership of Diabetes New Zealand.
