Breast Cancer Support
Breast Cancer Support (BCS) is an incorporated society and a registered charity providing free, peer-based community support to women experiencing breast cancer. Support is provided by women who have ‘been there too.’
Breast Cancer Support is administered by a central committee, services are provided by trained volunteers and all are survivors of breast cancer. Our work is supported by memberships, private donations, trusts and grants.
OUR AIMS
- To provide opportunities for those diagnosed with breast cancer, and those who support them, to speak with someone who has experienced breast cancer and had a positive outcome.
- To offer opportunities for women with a present or past diagnosis of breast cancer to meet in a group setting for mutual support.
- To provide information about health and support services related to breast cancer.
HOW WE HELP
One on one
Breast Cancer Support offers one-on-one support from a positive personal experience. Trained volunteers who have experienced breast cancer are available to listen and speak with women from around New Zealand who have had a recent or past breast cancer diagnosis. Group support
The Breast Friends Support Groups are free and meet monthly throughout the greater Auckland area. Each group is led by a trained facilitator. Women meet in a relaxed, social environment to share information, exchange stories and enjoy the fellowship and mutual support of others who have shared a similar journey.
