MISSION STATEMENT
"To help clients develop effective relationships". Our goals are "to help people establish and maintain quality relationships for living" and "to find their own answers to relationship problems and adjust to change".
OUR ORGANISATION
Relationship Services is a national not-for-profit organisation, offering relationship counselling and education services from 30 offices and 70 locations around New Zealand.
OUR SERVICES
We specialise in couple relationships - but also offer counselling services for a range of other issues including:
- adjustment counselling for work-place change or redundancy
- grief counselling
- domestic violence prevention programmes
- parenting skills
- counselling for the full range of relationships, including extended family, work-place, flat mate
AFFORDABLE COUNSELLING
Our counselling is affordable because we have two major contracts with government agencies. Many of our clients are self-referred. Our services to these clients are subsidised by funding from the Department of Social Welfare through the Community Funding Agency. These clients pay fees according to their means.
The other major group of clients is referred by the Family Court and the Court pays for up to six counselling sessions.
OUR COUNSELLORS
All Relationship Services counsellors are employed on a professional basis as staff members. Counsellors are tertiary trained and must achieve external accreditation as well, through membership of a professional body.
